Playwright/Actress – AEA, SAG-AFTRA and Dramatist Guild Member

DEMERARA GOLD, the solo-play, written by and featuring Ingrid Griffith, premiered at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in Manhattan in July 2014 where Ingrid was nominated Best Solo-Show Performer. In the fall of 2014, DEMERARA GOLD won Ingrid a Godfrey Chin Award for Heritage Journalism from the Guyana Cultural Association of NY. In May 2016, she was one of the fifty honorees at the Guyana 50 @ 50th Anniversary Event in New York City.

Ingrid Griffith has appeared in productions at John Jay College, The American Place Theatre, Aaron Davis Hall, Claire Rose Playhouse and South Hampton Cultural Center in contemporary roles as well as the classics. She studied acting with New York acting coaches Wyn Handman, Vivian Matalon and Terry Schreiber, earned a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in English from City College of New York. Griffith’s articles on fitness and popular culture have been published in magazines, including Essence, The Source and Pro Sports. She also wrote a column for The Newark Star-Ledger. Ingrid Griffith teaches at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the Communication and Theater Arts Department.
